Just bought a LNIB 913 Nitrous Stryker D2 satin prototype. I love the blade but I don't know if I can get used to tip down carry.

It has a different clip and thumb studs from the production model 913.

What's going on with the edge there near the tang? It looks like it stops to far forward, is that normal? Either way cool knife, I love the blade shape and how it's not a recurve and the thumb studs, great purchase. Any idea on numbers produced? Should you even use it or just display it?

I'm usually a huge fan of BM's deep-carry clip, I put them on everything but that split arrow clip looks perfect on that knife. If your right handed have you thought about left pocket carry? That's the only way I can carry tip down, then I cross-draw and it's no issue.

I wonder how much it would cost to have the other end drilled and tapped for tip up carry?

There's always value held in prototypes, esp. if you have the matching box. Nice find. If you like it well enough get another and don't use that one. The area right around the choil is normal as designed and makes it easy to sharpen the edge on a belt or your Edge Pro for that matter.

Now that Benchmade is going to be offering an Axis Stryker, I wonder if they'll make an entire line? I'd live to have this knife in an Axis version. I like the Axis so much I just warm up to this liner lock. I've already got a dozen liner/frame locks I don't use.

That's a tough one. The 913 and other Nitrous models are so different in locking mechanisms that I don't see it happening. Not to mention there seems to be a push for some reason towards Axis locks (And the 907/912/913 models are discontinued...) If you really like the 912 and the blade suits you, why not look at buying an Ares?

Again I'd advise not using that prototype. The value, if that's important, disappears and it becomes just another user. These knives are pieces of history, even in a production version...just my opine.

I'd b fine without the nitrous assist, even prefer it actually.

I'd just like to have this size knife with the same blade shape and G10 scales but Axis lock and tip up carry.

I have a 913 and it is my most perfect knife, but that just means it has the features that appeal to me the most. I also have an Ares and it has a lot of the qualities of the 913, in particular the blade shape, but with axis lock and tip-up carry, and is unassisted. The other comparison I can make with the 913 is that the Ares is a little heavier, but this also makes it seem like a more solid knife. The Ares scales are a little more sculpted too.
