Bought a Buck 110FG yesterday....

Anyone got one of these? how does the Steel compare to others?

Just that I hear that people dont think too highly of 420

I feel that steel is subjective to what you are going to do with it and how much time you want to spend sharpening it. Or learning to sharpen it in my case..

I liked the S30V in the Alaskan 110's because it held and edge for nearly all of my Deer processing last hunting season.

I like the 420 because it sharpens up fast with less effort. So with casual every day kinds of things I use 420.

Comes down to a personal preference thing for me...

ATS34, for me, goes along with S30V. Don't have a BG42 user......yet

Just my 2 centavos worth....:o

Hi Guys! I think people read too much into steel. Is it sharp, does it cut?
Anyone have a 110 FG? Great knife!!!!! I use a Klawhorn Redi edge to put an edge on My EDC's. Works excellent puts an almost instant edge on 'em.
Plus when we skin our deer 1-3 at a time, We just leave the redi edge right in the garage and run our 103 skinners across it occasionally to sharpen up!

Hey Maverick...
I've never met a 110 I didn't like.

Have a Alaskan Guide with S30V and a HeeBeeGeeBee42 NS FG I got from a forum member. While I have used the Alaskan and have used other knives with S30V (Buck Mayo TNT and A.G. Russell Camp Knife come to mind), I have never cut a thing with the BG42 110 or used any other knife with that steel.

My Sirus 298GY ATS34, also from another cool BuckBro, is my true EDC. Seem to have that and and my 112FG Idaho with me constantly.
While the ATS34 holds a great edge, it's tougher to sharpen than the 112 steel (which is the same as 110 steel).

So, while I end up sharpening the 112FG more often than the 298GY, it is a great knife and I have no issues with the steel.

Anyway, long way to say, use what you like :)

Ok cool...

Well it wont replace my current EDC which is a Benchmade... but its just gonna be "one of those keepers"...

But buying it from the US is like 1/3rd the price of buying it in the UK... like its almost as many pounds as it is dollars. I have seen the 110FG for almost £70.00 in the UK which is nearly $130.00

But buying it from the States including delivery was $54 dollars which is £29.00 - f****** bargain!!! :)
