All I can say is wow what a knife! I mean, it's basically a very sharp prybar but I Am Impressed! In the back of my mind I was thinking srk.. Ish but that's not really the case and it's COS steel and not VG10. I'm curious to, see if the edge will hold as well or better than the VG10 which has history of chipping out. Another cool thing is the updated sheath design with a. "double retainment" system. When I had the lever in the locked position I tugged and tugged hard and it held tight! Once you flip the lever up you have to push the knife forward a bit to get the finger guard out of the notch. It's a simple and easy sheath design but in my opinion it has an elegance about it that I respect and admire. This is my first Fallkniven and I have a hunch it won't be the last.

I bought a couple of their kitchen knives and even my wife appreciates them. A joy to use.
She’s hard on the edge but they touch up easily. The handles are very ergonomic. Really beautiful!

Enjoy yours!

I have a few myself but not the S1X. I have the A1Pro, A1X, and a Modern Bowie and an F1 as well. They are tanks and cutters at the same time. Congrats that's one I've been thinking about as well and a great overall size. Enjoy your new Fallkniven it's a nice knife and sheath very compact and like you mentioned it works great.

Great knife!! I myself love the LamCoS steel.. It beats vg10 & is easy to sharpen too! A few.passes on the strop and the hair.on your arms jump off in fear!!!!. Kidding aside its a solid steel and knife n sheath.. Enjoy and post some in the wild pics if possible!! Enjoy!!

I rather like the original S1. Unlike ‘Survival Lily’ (shome mishtake, shurely?) I have managed not to break the tip. The kids love using that particular knife, which is interesting.

I recently purchased an A1x and am enjoying any threads I can find on the new X line by Fallkniven. I’ve pondered a S1 for obvious reasons. The A1 should be sufficient for wood processing- yet a tad bulky to carry all day. I like my F1 (vg10) size... yet a sligh bit more edge would be nice.
Please forgive me if this has been covered- Can anyone explain to be if Lam Cos has chipping issues? I’m aware of Vg10, once sharpened a bit it strengthens up. Yet how is the Cobalt in any regard? Appreciate the information, thank you BF.

My F1x chipped badly the first time I used it hard (chopping out a briar rose). That was on the factory edge. I was disappointed, but did not bother to file a warranty claim.

Since then I have used it very hard (e.g., splitting three inch diameter seasoned hardwood rounds), and have had no further problems.

After about a dozen cycles of use and resharpening the chip is almost gone. Overall I am happy with the knife.

So even the cobalt x series chips. Guess I’ll just sharpen out the factory edge and then not have any chipping happen.
