I'll be picking up my second handgun very soon (it should be shipped to the FFL Friday), and I want to get a head start on the holster. Any recommendations from you more experienced folk?

I was looking at some of the more mainstream brands and seemed to like Safarilands stuff the most. I'm not overly concerned about concealment.

Thanks for any help!

No holster recommendation but an FYI.

FN is releasing what they call a combination kit for the FNS line. It will include a slide, barrel, recoil rod, and magazines. You can basically convert your FNS to a .40 s&w (or you can convert a .40 s&w to a 9mm).

I'm a big fan of Comp-Tac. It's half leather half kydex. I think it's called the Minotaur. Comfy, fairly inexpensive and rides well.

For leather, I use Milt Sparks (awesome with a long wait time).

Thanks for the replies. I would say full to part leather..I'll check out the suggestions. Thanks!

@harkamus-That's cool. Any idea when it will be released?

Was unveiled at Shot Show 2013 in January, so I'm guessing in the next few months. You can always ask your LGS to order one for ya if the price is right. FN Herstal hasn't released pricing yet. They've repeatedly said that pricing is available upon request.
Send 'em an email if you're piqued. media@fnhusa.com I was researching their firearms for a buddy of mine that asked for a .40 s&w firearm. The FNS was one of my recommendations for him, even more so now that there will be a combo kit.

Awesome. I'll email them...it doesn't hurt to find out how much it would cost!

FOBUS the best for self defense, just my thoughts. I just picked one up for my FN 5.7, I have a FN 45 too but need more funds for that holster later.

Those don't look half bad! I don't know how I feel about waiting 3 weeks (at least), though.
