Geez. My wife and I closed on our first house this morning. Talk about a nerve-wracking experience. Fortunately the sellers were nice, the agents were good, and even the mortgage broker was cool. We're feeling pretty good about it, althoug assuming that kind of debt is scary.
Anyhow, gotta spend the weekend moving. Yippee! But now we have a house that's all our own, and I can barbecue without some apartment manager pitching a fit.

L6,

That reminds me a lot of one of the houses that I lived in during college. Only yours is nicer.

congrats bud, I bought a house a few monts ago, I love it, one of the best decisions I ever made...

Very cool, James! Congratulations. Home ownership opens up whole new worlds of stuff to spend your money on and get injured using. The best thing is that your home improvement projects actually improve and increase the value of the property YOU OWN.

My wife and I just exercised our "lease to buy" option which we had for 4 years. Our contract made us responsible for all minor repairs but reduced the selling price by the costs of certain agreed upon improvements which we undertook, so I re-shingled the roof and remodeled the bathroom and did a few other things and saved around $10K. It's great when you are "working for yourself".

Yes, Congrats. And welcome to the world of home repairs.....
