There was a cultural faire in my parent's city so I went by and I found a knife stand(a nice surprise for a change). This was the model I liked the most made in 1080 high carbon steel and bull horn. It's made by Casa Aragon from Oaxaca, Mexico.

Not a trinket for tourist by any means. It's pretty damn sharp. Compare with this tourist knife from the 70's my grandfather gave me:

Casa Aragon will be at the St. Louis knife show if anyone is interested.

Classical hunting pattern (fairly on the "skinner side" as evidenced by the wide finger choil). But it looks really cool and if the steel is good (and good tempered) you got yourself a flashing outdoors knife.

Thanks for sharing, I would love to see some Mexican cutlery that are not tourist fodder, real knives that can be used and admired. Thanks for the information about Casa Aragon.

i know there is a man who makes the silver Peso knives, who lives in the Yucatán, near Merida, he posts here sometimes. Not sure if he is Mexican or some ex-pat. Found it, JD Ware knives.

You should definitely check Ojeda as well. Link removed by staff.
