A few years ago (6) when I was in high school I owned a SAK tinker. I used it on occasion but never fully appreciated it until it was stolen out of my bag at the skate park. I have no idea where I got it I just know I owned one. After it was stolen I was given a leatherman for my birthday. Now that I'm collecting knives I miss the Tinker I once had. Today after getting paid this past weekend, I went down to the local farm and fleet and picked one up. Welcome back SAK tinker! I missed ye.

Doesn't help that I'm a McGuyver Fan.

Congrats on the new sak!

I edc a tinker, very handy little knife.I always wanted a sak when I was a kid,all I got were the cheap copies,When I got re-interested in them 4 or 5 years ago, little did I know that I would soon own around 40! One of the best values in knives imo.

A very handy knife indeed.
I like the scissors on the Super Tinker too.

The Super Tinker is just about the perfect "walking around EDC"!

And are slightly addictive. :D

I carried the Tinker for several years then found the Explorer and have carried one of them every since. About 25 years. I Am on my third one aas I wore the big blade down on the first two. I plan to get the Farmer next as it seams to be a favorite around here. Got to see why its so popular.

First of all...

It's McGuyver!

Second...

That was my first SAK too about 10 years ago.
Great that you're back in the SAK-carrier's club!

Don't take it to the airport!

I hope you use the living heck out of it! You have every right to be happy. You'll find new uses for it every day and everyone will want to borrow it. :)

I'm not sure. I think it will go in my back-pack. I religiously carry my leatherman and a surefire. (The Spec-ops double supersheath is the shizznit). And I'm hoping to trade out my LM for a SOG Powerassist soon. I dont know when I'll use my SAK over a multi-tool though. But, when you have it, you FIND a use for it.

I've had my Tinker for 20 years now and I've used this knife more than all my other knives put together - mainly because those little scissors are just so dang handy. I love it so much that I gave one to each of my groomsmen.

Thanks for bringing this knife up. It's been so long since I bought them that I forgot what it was called.

My first knife was a tinker. I got it for my 10th birthday in 1987. I still have it.

I EDC a recruit now (a tinker without the reamer/punch or phillips screwdriver). I find, no matter what I'm carrying, a SAK will always come in handy.

What is it about a Tinker .... it was my first SAK too! LOL!

Now you need to look at the Hiker ........ basically a Tinker with a saw, or a Fieldmaster which is Super Tinker with a hook, saw and scissors. Then you really need to get a Farmer, and then ..... LOL!!!!

I also often EDC a recruit. It was my first SAK, although I had had cheapo knock-offs before. Handy knife, especially as I like to drink bottled beverages (not beer, I'm only fourteen, coke and the like)
It ranks among my top EDC, along with my Case Stockman, and Gerber Airframe.

SOG makes the best multi-tool. I know. I've tried a bunch.
They'll sell you spare parts too.
I got a special SOG multi-tool that was black-coated. I wanted one that didn't have a knife blade on it (since I always carry a knife regardless) so I took the knife off and another tool I didn't think I'd use and ordered two different tools to install instead, from SOG at a really reasonable price.

I use my SAK over a multi-tool because I carry my SAK often and my multi-tool not so often. Inedibley, I pull out my SAK and then remember I put on my multi-tool that morning. You gotta wear a multi-tool a lot to remember the functionality you have riding on your hip.

I always have a knife in my pocket, and a surefire and multitool in a spec-ops double super-sheath on my waist, (up until I dropped my LM in the field), So I'm aware of my multi-tool. The SAK goes in my backpack.

I'm waiting for the Black oxide powerassist to come out and I'm going to switch out the bottle opener for the wrench adapter. I'm getting antsy for it to come out since I lost the LM.

I recently bought the SAK Trekker with the locking knife. I chose not to go with the new one-hand openers simply becuase I wanted the traditional look and feel of an original SAK. Here's a photo I took Tactical Knives style. Enjoy.

Nice. Sounds like a plan!
Mine is basically an older Black Oxide Powerlock special run for military EOD teams with crimpmers, etc. that I modified and got more civilian parts for for more civilian office/computer-type uses.
