bought a tomahawk, anyone know anything about it???

i just bought this off ebay the other day. iv never seen one with a blade edge this wide. has anyone ever seen one? know anything about who might have made it? ill put better pictures of the makers marks when it arrives. plus im going to need a good handle, and a carrying sheath.. thanks.

i think it might possibly be a french made axe. i found this on the web, and its pretty darn close in design and weight.

A close-up picture of the stamped markings would go a long way in helping us figure out who made it. :)

then a eye with eyelashes. kinda like the all seeing eye on $$..... ill post better pics later..
 
I believe it's Swedish.
Maybe Cegga can find out a date range for us. The 650 is the gram weight of the head.

Bahco has a similar design, which they call French hatchet. I think that pretty much nails is, since I have seen this design on some French Axe manufacturers' sites, too.

Its not a tomahawk. It is a French carpenters hatchet from the late 19th C./early 20th C. A lot of these have been brought over from France lately to be resold as "tomahawks". 650 usually refers to the number of grams the head weighs.
