Hello knife guys,
I bought this ZT0550 today and my friend sig_jr just learned his is fake and not I am questioning mine...Maybe you all can shed some light on to whether this a real ZT for a hell of a price of a fake and a waste of my money...Thanks in advance!

The things that concern me are the USA is closer to the edge of the blade than all the others I have seen and the pocket clip is black, I have only seen ones with silver ones online...Thanks again!

The laser etchings can vary from run to run. As for the clip, that just looks like a regular black oxide ZT clip, the warranty department will send them out free of charge. It looks perfect to me...I'm curious how your friend knows he has a fake?

Edit: forgot to mention, great choice buying an 0550! :)

You mean your friend learned his emerson was a fake, not a ZT 550. Well his looks to be fake (the emerson), but your 550 looks real to me! Carry on...

Sorry for the confusion, yes he bought a different knife than I did. Luck of the draw i guess. Thanks guys! best $60 bucks I've spent in a long time!

Ok, first off, that knife your buddy posted is a horrible fake. Emersons just plain don't look like that.

Your 0550 is an early serial number, Gen 1 0550. Looks completely legit to me.

He posted it up on here...and you all quickly identified it as a fake...

I saw that thread. So I assume you bought it at the same shop? I don't think there's anything to worry about. The only convincing ZT fakes are of 0777, 0888, 0454, and even then they're easy to pick out. Usually sterile blades, sometimes G10 instead of carbon fiber, advertised as S35VN or D2 instead of S110V, Vanax 35, Maxamet, lacking composite blades, etc. :)

Edit: $60 BUCKS???? You certainly are a lucky dude!

A 0550 for $60 is a fantastic score. Congrats!

From the pics, it looks real enough to me. As for the clip color discrepancy, it's entirely possible the previous owner simply swapped it with the clip from a 0200, 0300, or one of the other models that uses that same style clip (but with black oxide coating instead of plain silver).

Looks real to me  I agree with grownstar, it is an awesome knife and personally its my favorite knife of all time :D

So much fear and paranoia these days. Not a day goes by that I don't see someone asking if their knife is fake...

I'm not casting blame on the OP for asking, I just think it sucks that either the knock-offs have reached a new height, or the internet paranoia has reached a new height.
