Yep thats right i gave away a brand new ZT, and they didn't even ask for it. I only paid for half of it though, my father paid for the other half.
Me and my father bought a Zero Tolerance 0350KW for my cousins Graduation from college. The 0350KW is a knife works special with a bead blasted blade.
my family does a men and a women gift exchange for christmas every year. for the last 4 or 5 years i have been bringing knives to it. christmas of 2010 i brought a Kershaw overdrive 2, and the cousin in question wound up with it and it has been his daily carry ever since.
i was talking to him about a while ago when he sent out the invite cards for the ceremony and he said he lost his Kershaw for over a month. He told me a guy in class had the same knife and thought he stole it, he found it later in his girlfriend's car when they were cleaning it. so i thought why not make his special ZT very special. so i did the electric etching and put his name and the year on the blade. i wanted to put his whole name, but i couldn't find any letters small enough that were cut right to use.
i did a few experiments with volt size to see what cut the best. i ended up with a 20v converter pack from a slot car kit to power the etching process. i had a little ghosting on the "1" and the first "t". i need to use a solid color nail polish to make sure everything is covered.
here r the pics. the one with the Z and A are the power pack test on a cheap steak knife. the Z was with a 30v converter, as you can tell it was to much. and the A was with the 20v pack i used and will continue to use. they were black too, but i took a scrub sponge to them so i can see how deep the etching was.
