Bought an interesting Smith & Wesson Knife.. the blade says Viper.. I guess that is the model name..

The blade can be swung open by wrist action and lock firmly into place when it is opened. Very interesting mechanism... anyone ever seen this knife b4?

got one from the site.. I guess the price is not too bad for the fun I enjoy.

Considering getting another one for my friend since he also likes the knife.. anyone know where to find a better deal for this particular item?

Side opening swing knives have been around a while, I have a S&W all stainless knife that works similarly probably from very early 1980's. I had an older one that was given away much earlier then that as a premium.

AG Russell has a model that is similar.

As for a better deal, it's already a $20 knife, I suppose you could find a similar style one for $6 but why?

Saw a two sided one at the flea market yesterday - sort of a balisong off by 180, the handles flopped over the blade in the same plane and toggled open.

Less than $10 bucks. Usually the innovative pieces are high and low dollar. The vast mid market of Wallyworld buyers don't buy them, it takes imagination to want one.

SMKW is charging $20 for that knife also, so it's doubtful to be much cheaper anywhere else.

The Van Hoy Snap Lock by CRKT is similar, only the blade can swing through the frame either way.

AG Russell has the similar model? Got any pictures?
I'm not sure which AG Russell model Dave was refering to, but here's the Funny Folder. $20.

And if you're looking for a knife to provide entertainment, this can't be beat:

It's the Kershaw E.T. Toggle Lock. Even comes with a movie to show how to use it.

Hey Bob, Thanks fo the pics.

The CRKT's also looks very nice.. not so sure about the AG Russell's.. The name says it all..

Please check you state and local laws as this item is restricted in some areas.

Where the ad says this, they're right. Most places would classify this as a gravity knife, and ban it. :D

I think Boker has a similar knife out now, too. SOG had one where the tang was another blade -- whichever way you flipped it, you had a fixed blade out, one plain, one serrated. (NOT the current SOG Revolver.)

Why don't you buy yourself a better knife, like maybe the kershaw? And clean up that knife and give it to him. I'm sure he would appreciate it just the same.

Yeah.. I like the kershaw's too..It is got the look and everything.. but still wana keep this knife... I have brought it almost everywhere I went lately and received many compliments.. I think the knife looks kindda cool and very tactical....
