Well, I decided my daughter (she's seven) has earned herself a trip to the knife store with me. She was saving up for a SOG Flash I, and today she reached her goal. Below are our purchases...

She bought herself a SOG Flash I and said it fit her (little) hand just right. No complaints here. It was razor sharp right out of the box. Cost was $32.

I bought myself a Kershaw Leek, 1660FLG FLG means it has the American flag in front of some clouds, anodized on the aluminum handles. This isn't a frame lock, it's a linerlock. To go with it, I bought a Kershaw Scallion 1620FLG and a Kershaw Chive 1600FLG. They're all linerlocks, and all have the same design. The left (non-pocket clip) side of the handle has the American flag waving with the field of stars on the left, and the right side (pocket clip side) has the American flag waving with the field of stars on the right. I'm glad they obversed it rather than just repeating the same image for both sides. The Leek was $32, the Scallion was $28, and the Chive was $26. All came very sharp and only needed a small touch on the strop to shave with. The manufacture date on all three was Sep 07, which I think is cool to have all of them match.

I also purchsed three Needs Work knives; one for myself and two for co-workers. I have four of these now; one for my toolbox at home, one for my box at work, one for the car, and one for my backpack. They came pretty sharp, as expected. Price was $30 each. I didn't bother to look at the manufacture dates.
My wife stopped in and bought a Victorinox Hunter in OD green ($42) and a Kershaw Scallion 1620 in plain-Jane polyimide ($27). Manufactured in Sep 07. Came pretty darn sharp. Then she picked out an all-black Kershaw Shallot 1840CKT for $53. It was actually dull to me. It would cut paper cleanly, but it took a lot fo time to get hair-popping sharp. She said she'll keep it in her boot for fending off ninjas in the mall. No, she didn't say "mall ninjas". Ninjas at the mall.

So, total for the Nieporte family for today... $330. With taxes, it came to $349.80 :eek: Kershaw, you're welcome :) And yes, almost all of it was my bonus.

I think Thomas would say one of two things:

Thanks for your business JN! :cool:

-or-

Your bonus is too small. You need to work harder! :D

Very cool. I would say, though, make sure she understands the ramifications of taking (and getting caught with) a knife in school. If Ohio is anything like it's become around here, people have gone bloody stupid.

No, she knows to never take a knife to school. She EDCs a Spyderco Dragonfly, Boker Subcom, or a Kershaw Scallion. When we go out in the woods she takes a Mora #73-164PS

and a Byrd Robin. She wants to learn how to sharpen, so I gotta buy her some equipment soon I guess. My kid is cool.

A daughter with an interest in knives...well, wont have to worry about unwanted suitors!

Better save some money for Saturday. Check your email too.

Hopefully there is a Needs Work left for me.

Joe;
I check my E-mail. I don't need natural enlargement, and I wonder how you'd know even if I did. Thanks for the offer though.

I have many Moras. MANY Moras. MANY Moras. I'll bring you some on our rendezvous. Some Opinels, too. As far as I know, the little one will be coming with me to pick out a new LFK.
