I want to consider this my first spyderco. I bought my first off of home shoppers club (30bucks) many years ago and carried it for a long time.
I bought this one for striper fishing and think it will do a wonderful job as a bait knife cutting through mackeral herring and possibly shucking fresh clams. cutting the occational rope, net and fishing line and maybe cleaning a few keepers on the beach. I went through a couple crappy knives I had lying around last year that rusted quickly, I had to oil them and loosen them before every trip then wash them and oil them after every trip..immediately after. I tied a nice piece of leather shoe string around so I won't drop it and I can hang it from my wrist and use both hands and still have it at the ready when needed. I like the fact that it is the shape of the rescue blade and It will look like I am carrying a tool rather than a weapon and I won't drop it and stab my foot. Best of all I can have it in salt water all day with sand and fish guts all over it and take it home hours later wash it with soap and water, and it will be like new and NO RUST!!
gentlemen, please share with me my excitement :D

**edit** the only problem is now I think I want pacific salt also

The Salts are at home in and around the water. I found them to be very useful and carefree. I couldn't stop at just one.:)
edited to add picture.

Wash them in soap and water!? Pah! I laugh at your overprotectiveness. Leave them slimy, leave them salty - they love it.

Days since I have washed my P-salt after daily salt water swims, much IWB sweat and some fish blood - 32

Amount of rust - 0

hahah I said I CAN wash it in soap and water not I would.
the only reason I would wash it... I don't mind the knife smelling like fish, but I don't want the insides of my pockets and everything I put in them smelling like fish (although I usually smell like fish every day from mid april to the end of october)
I'm digging the salt 1 non serrated, may have to pick one of those up too

I just got one yesterday. I haven't had much of a chance to use it but I'm looking forward to using it. Yellow SE. A vgery nice looking knife and because of the bright handle sheeple friendly.

I too have a Pacific Salt!! But, I want a Salt 1, for the smaller blade size. I will put my yell handled Pacific Salt through it;s paces this summer, when it will be my bech EDC.

Hello Knife Collector, you live on CC, the Salts were made for you. If you like the Delica 3, you will like the Salt 1. :)
