Bought my first Spyderco

Had a hard time deciding, so I went back the next day and bought my second Spyderco.
My first choice was a Delica. In person, this knife is bigger than its seems from looking at the internet pictures. Pretty much everything I was looking for in a knife. The only thing I didn't really like was the fact that the only color the store had was black. I was hoping for something brighter just because I have a hard time keeping up with things. I figured I could live with the color and pick up another brighter colored delica later if I want to.
The second knife that I went back and bought was a Manix 2 lightweight translucent blue. I liked the fact that it was bright and easier for me to keep up with, the size to weight ratio and American made.
The things I'm not sure about are the blade lock system is completely new to me, I prefer liners and one of the reasons I have found an interest in spyderco is the screw together construction which this knife doesn't have. Have I ever had a reason to un-pin a knife? No. But for some reason, I like the idea that if I had to, I could.:D
It feels to me that if I dropped it hard on concrete, it would shatter? I'm sure that's not the case after reading some reviews.
The last 2 days, I've mostly carried the Delica, but once I use my Manix 2 more, that could change.

Welcome to the club.

My first Spyderco was a Delica. In 1990. Lost the damn thing within a couple of weeks but later replaced it with an Endura that I used for almost 10 years. I bought another Delica a few years back and I have the current Delica on order. I also have one of the original Manix models. That knife is a hunk o' steel, I want you to know. I'm kind of attracted to the translucent blue Manix 2 myself. So many nice knives, so little cash.

After all these years, I have about a dozen Spyderco knives. Not a lot by most collector's reckoning but every one of them are excellent users. Again, welcome to the club.

Ahhh I really want a Delica. But $$$ be tight these days.

Congrats on your new knives!! May I recommend you look at the Salt line next...

Bought a Delica, did you? Well then. You, sir, are doomed.

Just like the rest of us. :)

Welcome aboard.

Thanks everyone. You are right. I am still wanting to take a look at the Native, the Stretch as well as a regular Manix 2.

Like you, I started with a Delica 4 (Grey VG10 FFG). Weeks later, I followed it up with a DLC Black Paramilitary 2, which has mostly displaced the Delica from my pocket. Now I'm eyeing a LionSpy for camping and other outdoor activities. Does it end?

Only when you run out of money

The Delica was the 2nd Spyderco knife I purchased, and within a month I bought 2 Paramilitary 2s...
So it's the Spyderco knife that started my new addiction :D

Bought a dragonfly2 two weeks ago, was really impressed with it. Went ahead and bought a paramilitary 2 earlier this week. Am loving the pm2 thus far. I think my sypderco addiction has just started.. :o

My first was the Tenacious. So far, I'm not really finding that I'm super drawn to the knives with the FRN handles. I do have my first one of those on the way (a Dragonfly 2 Salt to carry to the beach), but everything else I have or am considering is clad in G10. As much as people keep singing the praises of the Delica, I guess I need to look at picking one up to see what all the fuss is about....

FRN is a great handle material...and feels very solid, especially with the nested liners (Which the Salt series and Dragonfly don't have). I highly recommend trying out a Delica, Endura, or Stretch if you're curious about FRN.

My first Spyderco was the Tenacious, as well. I thought that if i was going to get one,
that it had to have a full 'Spidie Edge' and it did not dissapoint...
Who knew that it would not be my last, and that I too had been spidiebitten. :)
