I'm an addict. This is a fact and has made my life very difficult at times. It seems that my newest compulsion is buying knives, and the internet is to blame. How can I resist never ending searches for the coolest knives I've ever seen. Before I was constrained by the terrible tastes of the local sport shops, they never had what I needed. Now I have access to knives around the world. "I need to find someone to translate this Korean site, they have a Harsey T3 in stock" So I regularly spend multiple hundreds on toys that I don't need, and that only satisfy my hunger briefly. The anticipation, going to the post office gives a rush. Opening and feeling the new knife is ecstacy. Then it gets put in the safe and I have to start over. Its certainly better than getting high, once the high is gone w/drugs you have zilch, at least I can sell the knives, give someone else a rush.

I know the feeling . I can get obsessive about new things I get into . Try to break it down . what do you HONESTLY use ? Are you an outdoorsman who needs and uses a fixed blade knife ?
Or are you the average guy who finds it handy to carry a folder and use it occasionally ? Try working out what YOU really do with your knife and start by selling off the types you have gathered up that don't fit that need and so they never get used .
Then rotate the ones you have left , using each one and you'll soon find the ones you go to all the time . Sell the rest and then don't feel bad about trying a new knife that FITS your use once in a while .
I know , easier said than done . Good luck , I'm still not there myself lol .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

You do so because the process of searching - and sometimes finding - activates certain neurochemical pathways in your brain which produce a feeling of satiety, satisfaction and contentment. These emotions are the Balm of Gilead to an aching soul, which temporarily distract us from the angst we all carry just below the surface. Henry David Thoreau opined that "the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." A nice SAK, or pocket-worn traditional folder, or quick deploying "tactical" knife make us just a little less desperate in a world which we know to be groaning in travail, awaiting its liberation from bondage to decay.

All of this talk about blade steel and ergonomics is just the cover story.

The only solution is to stay away from the forums. Its a fun hobby, but unfortunately it can quickly become an expensive one.

Lots of us have the sickness my man. It’s hard sometimes with so much cool stuff out there. You have to find something else to keep yourself occupied :)

I know how you feel, the internet, these forums, & youtube really made it easy to go nuts in any hobby.I was lacking in the fixed blade dept, & in the last 2 months bought about a dozen fixed blades, but i think im good for now. i have all the folders i want,it will really take something good for me to get a folder.
