Bought New Buck 112 - Stamp says made in 2019?

Buck 112 Rangers. I ordered the S30V model - MSRP $150 for $70. I just received it. The large outer box (with the sheath and knife box) says it is a 112 and it was manufactured in 5/24. But the inside box with the knife in it (worn and somewhat tattered) said the enclosed "Buck 110" was made in 2018. When I opened the box it was a 112 with ebony handles like I ordered BUT the Buck date code stamped on the blade said it was made in 2019. Having said that the knife itself looks new - beautifully sharp - S30V is stamped on the blade so it must be the knife I ordered except that it is 6+ years old. I am surprised that Midway would let this kind of merchandise to ship - shocked at their quality control.

My question is - would you keep this 6+ year old knife or return it and ask for a "new" one? Any value (or non-value) in it being 6+ years old? Need advice!!! Thanks knife lovers...

Knives don't generally wilt like lettuce.

I'd say you're good to go.
What TC said.
Buck has not changed the design of the 112 since the late 1990's when they changed the grind, so no difference there.,
And stainless steel will sit fat dumb and happy in a box, until somebody opens the box and puts it to work. So, no degradation has occurred.

I have a 112 in S30V, oak grips, from Buck's Custom Shop. Great knife. I liked it so much I ordered another with walnut grips for my BIL. Don't worry about the date; you got lucky. (Counting the days until my Custom Shop 110 with elk grips, nickle frame and MagnaCut blade shows up...:))

I seriously doubt if there is “any value (or non-value) in it being 6+ years old”.

I would be somewhat perplexed as you are but I think I would keep it.

Lol.
EVERY knife I have ever ordered from Midway was shipped in a bag and the knife box inside was messed up.
It's what they do.

Buck has always had anomalies with date codes.
It's what they do.

Keep it.

You can complain to Midway. It won't change anything.

No, it's spoiled, I tell you! Rotted like a month old banana! It won't cut, the lock will fail, and rust is already setting in. The wood scales are outgassing putrid contaminants putting your community's health at risk. EPA guidelines recommend you send it to a Bladeforums member for proper handling.

OK, joke's over. Great knife! 112s rock for EDC, farm/ranch/camp work, hunting, fishing, even bushcraft. Enjoy!

It should be just fine. The 112 design has not been changed since 2019. I doubt Buck has changed the heat treat of S30V since 2019, so that blade will be the same as what you would get with one made today.
