Bought a brand new Stitch from a reputable online retailer on 04/22/25 and it arrived with a manufacturer date of "04/2024", a year old essentially, is this ok? I also bought a Gen 3 CT interceptor 04/20/25 and it came in a week later dated 04/25 like its supposed to. I get there could be a month or 2 buffer between manufacture date and when you get it, but a whole year? The knife itself does look brand new so it got me puzzled.
Would you make a stink about it?

I would have zero concerns. I’ve purchased knives from authorized dealers that were dated/manufactured up to six years prior. Not at all uncommon for knives to marinate on dealer shelves based on the volume most of them take on. Long as it doesn’t exhibit signs of use/wear/damage, you’re very likely good to go.

It's not like you ordered underwear and it appeared 'used'. The date on the knife might be akin to rescuing a dog apparently no one wanted to adopt. Use that knife. Enjoy it.

BTW, did something meaningful happen at that time? Maybe the knife is a reminder.

Glad it worked out for you :)

Knives hang around. My LKS is still has several 2022 model SHFs marked at the going rate despite them not being in Magnacut. I might snap up one if he offers a deal, but there is nothing functionally wrong about the knives at all.

I remember being Spark's store several years ago asking if he had something like the ZT 0180 fixed blade that has been long discontinued for at least 2 years. He reached under the counter and pulled me out a NIB 0180. I was tickled to take that "old thing" off his hands ;)
