Okay, so maye I am a fool to do this, but I decided to fly my wife out for a two week vacation here in Brisbane. I figured she could either deliver the lumps I had coming in person, or she could let me blow some coin on her and send her home with a couple suitcases full of credit card debt. Fortunately she opted for the latter, and so with head intact I am off the hook for now on my recent knife purchases. Also, she didn't find out about my new credit account which will be activated soon and so I will be able to buy even more toys, er, tools. What's more, I just found out that I get to come back to New York so I will be able to get my hands on my boodle that much sooner.

I did finally break down and buy a didgeredoo. I can play one, though not like I want to yet, and found a really good looking big one that fits me quite well that I just could not say no too. Unfortunately it cost me more than the FBM I just bought, so I really am going to have to wait for my new credit line kicks in before I can make any more purchases. I asked one of the tribals what their symbol for a hog was, and now I have something for the custom shop to add in the future. Then again, I think maybe the fellow was shining me a good one for being another dumb Yank with money to throw away. Who knows, I am happy with what I got and that's enough for me.

In any case, it looks like I am going to beat my BATACLE home this time too. I wonder what my AK and my BR are going to think about their new siblings when I bring them home?

Hahaha Good stuff , Congrats on the new additions ! The didgeridoo does take some practice to get the hang of . What are your thoughts of Brisbane ?

Like most places it has it's pluses and its minuses. It is growing very quickly. Seems like people are getting sick of Melbourne and Sydney and want something better, so they are coming here in record numbers. The weather here is excellent. The beaches are really quite nice, thought the undertow is a bit drastic. Lots of scantily clad babes cruising around, and they obviously aren't big on bras here. The sun is quite intense, I have burned my head about half a dozen times since getting here last October. Brisbane is a great jump off point for a lot of great destinations, like Byron Bay, the great barrier reef, the outback, though Ayers Rock and Alice Springs are a ways off. There are some cool train rides here and if you get up into the coastal mountain range (what we would call hills back in Colorado) the sub-tropical rainforest is quite interesting. I really didn't have much of a problem with pests. There are a fair number of geckos, which keeps a lot of the other crawleys away. The food is good, except they have no idea what a good breakfast meat or pizza is here. They have nowhere near the number of cockroaches here that are in NYC, probably because they don't have the population density. The development along the Brisbane River is outstanding, and there are a number or really good restaurants to pick from. Their cultural diversity is a bit narrow, but it is still different from back home, so it is refreshing.

The people here are pleasant enough, though a bit ignorant about social interaction. The women are either ferally naive or jaded to the point they are bar mates. Everyone here drinks beer, and some drink wine, but few enjoy hard liquor, so it amazes them when I consume whiskey shot for glass with their beer consumption. Aussies do like to cut on each other more than I feel is comfortable, but you get used to it.

The politics here are a lot more socialist, as is expected. They tend to cut on the US a bit much for my taste, but when you realize it is mostly campaigning that is the cause of their angst, plus the chip on their shoulder for not being as well off as we are, then it is not such a big deal. I do not like not being able to legally have a means of defending myself, but then again, I know what evil is awaiting me now on the public transit system back in NYC now, so I guess there's no escaping the will of the weak.

All in all, Brisbane is a great place to spend a few months, and I will be happy to get home now and begin reflecting on the times I had here and the friends I made. I am waiting to see what my next great adventure will be, and where destiny takes me to.

If you are in Brisbane, you are welcome to swing by SAS Equipment 355 Samford Rd Gaythorne.. I am always keen to chat with a fellow Busse user/collector. Cheers, Nick.

Persky, I will try and stop by, wished I'd have known sooner as I am leaving for New York next Tuesday. If I don't see you, maybe we'll have another chance someday to blow the froth off a couple...

BTW, Fihelly's bar is my Thursday night hangout down in front of Central Station. If you should swing by there round about 6:30 or so I'd be happy to buy a round or two. Just look for a big dumb Yank and you'll find me straight off.

Cheers mate
