The set is $42 shipped, made in the USA (by Ontario), and good ol' 1095, but doesn't come with blade covers or a block. These will be kept at our cabin that is used on the weekends (built in 2008, not an old hunting shack). I'm replacing an odd assortment of Chinese knives we keep the silverware drawer. I've thought about a magnet strip, but that always looks so janky. Any interesting knife storage ideas?

i'll be pretty happy using a cardboard and duct tape but that's just the pro cook in me. lol. practically free too.

if you want something nicer just get knife sheaths for each of the sizes of the knives. i use henckel's knife sheaths, the one with the felt lined to keep it from getting scuffed up. they have different sizes. then you can either store them in a drawer with dividers so they don't bang around together or stick them in a cheap small knife roll. =D

We currently keep all our knives in a drawer with blade covers because it's neat and safe. This also allows us to carry the knives to wherever they're being used (outside cooking area, picnic, etc.). Perhaps I'll make a simple kydex cover for each blade...

Google "Kapoosh knife block". They're great. I think you can get them at Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

I thought of doing something somewhat similar to that... I was thinking of hollowing out a half-log and filling it with bamboo skewers then mounting it on the wall. Same idea, less Chinese and sanitary.
