Bounced Email Group?

I see this message at the top of each page...

Hi there, Velitrius! If you are seeing this, it's because email to you has BOUNCED! That's right, you are a really horrible person who is causing our email box to fill up with bounced emails and are really the Admin off. In response to this, your thread subscriptions have probably been deleted (to stop emails from bouncing). So be a good guy and change the email address in your profile. Then go to Change Usergroups and leave the BOUNCED EMAIL GROUP. Thanks a bunch!

I went to the Permission Groups page, and there is a Bounced Email user title listed, however the "Identify me as a member of this group" circle is not selected. It claims that I need to put a working e-mail in my profile. The e-mail in my profile has worked fine for years, and in fact is the e-mail address I use daily.

Could the @Hotmail.com be giving me problems? Is there a way to verify the validity of the address that I've used for years now?

I recently upgraded (today) to a Gold Membership... could there be a step that I've missed?

Your expert guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Bounced email means that BF sent you and email and it was not accepted by the service provider.

hotmail is "no bueno".

As I understand it, Hotmail considers BF a place of evil and will not accept emails from BF. Therefore, you can't use a Hotmail email address. If you use a hotmail email, BF email to you is not accepted (aka bounced), and BF gives you the BOUNCED EMAIL message.

Look at the blue box next to step C on this FAQ page:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/f...eate_profile#faq_faq_usermaint_register_step4

I think hotmail used to accept mail from BF, but does so no longer.

Thanks, Frank. Funny, I haven't been to the registration page in like 15 years... so I miss little details like "Hotmail is now Verbot-mail" and such.

Okay, next question... is a Yahoo addy just as bad? I switched it to a Yahoo account and I'm still getting the message.

I received a confirmation e-mail on the Yahoo account, clicked the link, and got the whole "Thank you for blah blah blah" response, but still seeing "Bounced".

Esav, I can easily create a Gmail account I suppose, but I'm attempting to use one of 2 addresses I've already been using for years now. Color me simple minded, but I'm a guy who is better off with minimal accounts and passwords to manage. I only visit a few sites anyways, and adding another just to visit this one just seems counterintuitive. I have no problem creating such an account to get this done, I'd just like to see if it might be something else holding me up before I do so.

HEY! You should make an e-mail server for paid members so we can be somebody@Bladeforums.com, two birds with one stone if you ask me. ;)

Spark had somebody@Bladeforums accounts for moderators, but they didnt get much use.
I know what you mean by not wanting too many accounts.

Hey everybody,
How long has hotmail.com been no good? I have used it as my email address since I first became a member years ago. And what does this mean for me? I am not computer literate at all. What am I supposed to do now? I am like Velitrius.I don't go to a lot of
websites etc. and I really don't understand how a lot of BF's procedures work. Why would BF be sending me emails anyway? What are bouncing emails? Am I in trouble with BF moderators and don't even know it? Esav Benyamin or somebody please help me out.
I don't know what to do.

Hotmail has been no good for a user address for several years now.

"bounced email" means that if BF sends you an email, the email service refuses to deliver it and "bounces" it back to BF.

Hotmail used to accept BF emails. Now they don't. BF may not have had occasion to send you an email since Hotmail changed our status. But at this point, if BF needed to send you an email notice, it would not be possible.

You can go to your profile and change your email address using an address which will accept BF email. At this time, the only email sites that don't accept BF email seem to be Hotmail and Verizon.
From your settings page, on the left side, under "MY SETTINGS", Click "Edit Profile". First option at the top is "Edit email and password ". Click that and have at it.

I'm there, Frank... but still getting the message.

I swapped it out to my @Yahoo account, which should have worked just fine.

I sent an e-mail to BFC using the updated account... take a look and see where I'm at.

Very interesting. I used my hotmail account here for years without a single incident, up until just a few months ago, when I then switched my BF e-mail address to a dedicated alias on outlook.com.

Just curious why it sounds like you guys are sure hotmail did not work, but it was perfectly fine in my case. I would think outlook.com would be no different, yet it also works for me. Odd.
