Anyone recall that folder they had at the very beginning? Where the russian pryes open electrical box. Looks like a good size folder. Wonder if it was something special since they made it a point to give us such a clear shot.

My guess would be something from A.G. Russell. A Featherlite mabe. I've never handled the knife so i wouldn't know the size.

I actually just finished watching this!!!!!!!!! I cannot recall the exact make, but I do concurr that it looked like the feather weight. I will get the DVD and see if I can get a better look on the PC.

It would be neat if someone put together a compilation listing of movies and TV shows and the knives used. =)

It looked to me like a Cold Steel econ with a tanto blade. It has been a while since I saw the movie but that was my thought on seeing it.

Here are some images of the knife from the movie. I know they suck, but it was never really shown clearly. I did the best I could with them. I suspect it's just some cheapo chinese folding knife. It looks like it has a plastic thumbstud.

UMmm.... looks like a Junglee Marshall. The FRN model with the partially serrated blade. It has the right kind of stud and the blade shape and size are about right. In the top row center pic it looks like you can see part of the gray inserts that Junglee uses as well. But it'st the thumb stud that makes me think it's a Junglee.

The pictures of the Junglee I found looked close, but not exact. Doesn't it look like their are horizontal ridges molded into the handle of the movie knife (first image)?

Hmm.. good point. But everything else looks spot on.. blade, curvature, thumb stud, even cut out of thumb stud.

The thing that drew my attention to the Junglee is the way the black thumbstud extends over the top of the blade in the video pics. The Junglee Marshall thumbstud does that and I know of few others that do. You cannot see it in most online photos, but I have a Marshall and the thumbstud is exactly the same.

the movie knife has a tang stamp, the junglee doesnt.

I think its probably a knock off of the junglee.

How do you like the Marshall? I have searched the site, and it seems overall people like it.

Hi Applejacks,
I have the FRN version of the Junglee Marshall. Found it online for ~$35 and couldn't resist the chance to try AUS10 steel.

The blade is well made. AUS10. I got the hardness measured in our test lab 58 Rockwell. Some fine grind marks along the edge. They came out with sharpening easily enough. I had some in my Native III also. The marks on the Marshall were a bit deeper, but still not bad. I've still not run a steel to steel edge retension comparison between the AUS 10 Marshall and the VG10 Native III. It's on my TO DO list. In just EDC'ing it, it seems to hold an edge well.

It's a linerlock. The lockup was solid. Passsed mild spinewhacks with no problems. The knife feels well balanced and comfortable in my hand. The clip is tensioned properly. You can't change the position of the clip. It is set for tip up right hand carry only. The knife rides pretty deep in the pocket and is very comfortable to carry there. The thumb stud is only set for right hand as well. The thumb stud is very gentle on the thumb.

The only problem I have with the FRN version is that it is unlined, and they designed the knife with too thin a gauge of FRN. The result is that the handle gives a bit in hard cutting, which I find unsettling. This is the handle itself bending, not the lock letting go. It is a design flaw and not a production problem. I think when they hollowed out the handle for the rubber inserts, it left the handle too thin.

I think the aluminum handle version would be very nice. IMO the FRN version is good for trying the steel.

Very nice info. I appreciate it. thank you. I think I am going to get one. At that price, its almost too good a deal for a Japanese folder.
