I wasn't sure where to post it so here it goes:

Spark, s it goes for me I apologise forr fooling around with them reps. I'm here only for the busseforum so didn't really think about the influence on the other forums and such. I only saw you goys having fun so I joined without thinking that someone might not approve it. Reps are good for traders I believe, since I am no trader please reset my rep points to zero or any default value. Sorry, wsome of us including me are just big overgrown children here, even when having a face like a criminal :D ;)

The intent was well thought, but got outta hand as it did in many other places.

Now... WHERE'S THE FOLDER?!?

That would be me. I know that I was just having fun, but I know that for some it was about getting what they earned.

I sincerely apologize to anyone who is disappointed at the loss of their chicklets.

I'm proud of you guys. Although the purpose behind it was good that rep point thing was getting out of hand. So I wouldn't blame the whole problem on you guys. You just took advantage of a loophole like others were doing... just probably in a more open way. :D

I knew this was going to happen and that's why I didn't respond to the "thread."

This (similar) also occured on the other forum with only the certain people in question being penalized.

I feel for you guys!

What is a system based on Rep points anyway? I trust who I trust because I've read posts and/PM with them. If my posts or Rep handouts truly have caused anyone here a hardship, I apologize.

yeah, too bad, but oh well. and mike (thatmguy), your post was very well said.

wow, i dont feel as bad, i just did a search and saw that there were threads up that were specificly up for rep whoring. some of the others were blaming the busse forum, but it looks like everyone was to blame.

No, only what Spark has eluded to in response to this situation.

Guilty as charged.

Sorta like Christmas, it was more fun giving than receiving, though!

Guess all we have left to play with is the "report bad post" icon. :(

;) just kidding

Oh well, good while it lasted.. This was the only forum i'm on that had them enabled anyway :)

Thanks to everyone that gave me! :)

Much appreciated

I know the purpose of our rep thread but hey, it was misunderstood and now everyone lost their reps. Since it seems important to some I apologised to them and still wondered where's the folder

It was hardly the case that the guys in the Busse forum were the only ones rating each other, or even asking openly for ratings. There were many posts in the main discussion forum where people openly asked for ratings which had nothing to do with their trading reputation or post content. As noted elsewhere several people with little to no posts had huge ratings for posting porn in the cove, that is hardly arguable as any kind of merit for a rating on a knife discussion forum. An anon private feedback system is hardly a sensible tool for judging someones knife knowledge or quality as a trader.

There is a trival way to implement an actual useful rating system for trading on bladeforums, simply have a user rating page where you could go to and see a feedback report for the members. All it would contain was the posters Bladeforums name, and the number of positives and negatives, and the links to the respective threads in the GBU. I'll even write the HTML and host the page. All the people involved who want to see it is just send me the email when they post their thread.

forget rep points. if you just want to help members know who to deal with and who to avoid in transactions, go to an ebay type system where you can leave positive or negative feedback. IMHO leaving points for people's opinions or comments leads to censorship...just do it for trades and sales.
