I know about Case/Buck/Schrade

Who are the makers I can peruse with trads having SS blades? I ask because I've been watching the sales forum, and looking here of course, to try and wrap my heads around the GEC, CS, NW's etc. I'm always seeing 0-1, 1095, CV(Case) etc.

I am beginning to be drawn to to the balanced look of a canoe pattern, but some of the stockmans qualify in that regard, also.

Thanks for the pointers.

Some GEC's have stainless (440C I believe). Also, Queen makes a higher-end line called Schatt & Morgan, using various stainless steels. "Regular" S&M knives use 420HC, while the File&Wire and Keystone series knives (two product lines that are yet another step up in quality/bells&whistles) are made with ATS-34.

Canal Street - SS blades and liners with nickle silver bolsters. The newest of the new are all stainless including the bolsters in some models.

Other than those mentioned boker uses a lot of stainless as well. Cant go wrong with any of the companies listed so far.

Stainless actually seems predominate from most brands other than Great Eastern. I think the reason that carbon steel is discussed so much is because of it's novelty in the current market.

Very few Case knives are CV, for example. Canal Street uses a lot of stainless. Most Queen is stainless also, even the Schatt and Morgan series. Buck is all stainless.

Bob, I guess what is still confusing me is that GEC is the General Motors, if you will, and they're producing x amount of 'brands', LOL. But, I found a site with a selection of the S&M, and there are some really good options there.

Thanks so far....

If by that you mean that GEC produces various sub-brands (GEC, Tidioute, and Northfield etc.) well then that would make Queen the Ford. Queen produces Queen, Queen City, and Schatt and Morgan.

Schatt and Morgan are my favorites for stainless, Canal Street too. I have yet to get a GEC in 440C, gonna have to fix that one of these days :D

The Daniels family produces the 'Tuna Valley' brand of knives, most are stainless. The runs are typically 50-100 pieces. That should qualify as 'Boutique'. TV is really an SFO produced for the Daniels Family, by either GEC or Queen.

Here's my only TV in ATS-34

Northwoods Gladiator is in CPM S60v. There were some left when I ordered mine! If you like high end stainless, stag and equal end designs, you should check it out, although it does carry a hefty price tag.

I'm bumping this one because my OP is still somewhat related. I've decided I'd like to get a stockman ala Buck 301. Do any of the OEM's use a 3-spring build like this knife (in stainless)?

Case builds the 47 frame, Stockman, with three springs. Blade steel is stainless.
