Around here we have a lot of sage and yucca, which work really well. So I'm curious what people use in areas where they don't have these. What works good and what doesn't?

Hand drill - not that experienced, but mullein with norway maple, white cedar or willow fireboard.

Bow drill - norway maple, willow for total kits or catalpa spindles. I use a stone socket.

Hi ZL,

Another link (where information on this subject can be located) can be viewed <a href="http://pub14.ezboard.com/fwildernesssurvivalprimitivesurvivaltechniquesquestionsandanswers.showMessage?topicID=7.topic">here</a>.

This link will take you to a post on another small forum that I moderate.

Have fun... and once you have read these links, let us know if you have any specific questions.

Best,
