Anybody else hunt with a bow. If so what kind of bow and arrows do you use. I got a hoyt razortec with a drop away rest and 26 inch blackhawk vapor 4000s

Hey Project2...

Yaa I bowhunt...

I use an Excalibur Exocet, pushing 20" custom bolts at about 285+FPS..
The Exocet is all tricked out with a matching Drop Zone scope,, and its accurate as All Get Out...

Shooting 3 arrow groups at 30 yards into a large pill bottle cap,,consistently.. I've actually tuned down the bow so it doesn't shoot as accurate as it could...Robin Hoods are common place with this bow, and at $8.00 or so a crack,,I can't afford the bolt damage...

Gotta love the sport Eh...

Nobody NEEDS sights much less a scope on a bow.Basketball players don't need sights to hit a 3 pointer,a quarterback doesn't use sights to hit a running receiver at 30 yards .They just practice a lot.

You don't need sights much less a scope on a bow, put the time in learn to shoot without them, anything that comes from hard work always mean more.

When you put a stock to your shoulder, look though a scope, and squeeze a trigger... you may be hunting but I have a hard time calling that bow hunting.

I guess thats what makes the world go round, differant strokes and all that. Some want a challange some the easy way out.

Hey LH...

I respect your views,, but ..:)

I'm not out there to phuck around.. When I look through the scope and pull the trigger on my crossbow, I know for a fact that unless I've screwed up and taken a bad shot, that bolt is going into a 3" invisable target, straight through the pump house of the animal i'm hunting.

I go in, get the job done and get out. I'm not a trophy shooter, I'm a meat shooter. I've got one week off a year that I take for deer hunting, and the first two legal animals that come with in range are headed for the freezer.

I've got no problems how anyone gets the job done, as long as it gets the job done correctly.. For me, getting the job done is my Exocet and a Scope, I trust it, and know Exactly what it is capable of...

I'm not shooting anything high tech, other than the scope and the trigger group. The Exocet is basically a 3000 year old recurve limbed design,, no wheels..

We call it Meals, without Wheels...:)

i got a reflex tundra last spring, before that i used a martin rage. i still use good old alluminum arrows and 125 grain two blade broadhead. it's a heavy setup but i prefer the power over the speed. i found that the longer axle to axle and the bigger brace height really helped my consistency, and that's the important part.

You bet! I shoot a Matthews Legacy, and it is deadly accurate. I have also shot a new HOYT that was very nice as well, but I can't remember the model of it. Bow hunting is a great sport, and very addicting. :D

Guys,
Has anyone here heard any good/bad stuff about the Reflex Caribou? I'm thinking of getting one. I have read some of the archey posts but I'm more interested in views from non-fanatical archers.

Cheers

I've havn't bowhunted for several years but have dealt with quite a few bowhunters the past few years.I worked part-time at a local store here to help out my buddy owners.Matthews was BIG seller and hard to get because of production shortages. They got kinda arrogant with some of their dealers.I'd say,if you have a setup that works for you, stick with it.My generation is made up pretty much instinct shooters,But if you are shooting with sights---pretty hard to beat!!By the way,the biggest deer killed this last season in Iowa was killed with a bow! The guy killed it at my workplace. He is a really nice guy, too. He would drive 100 miles one way to hunt our installation.Deer was either 21 or 23 points and dressed out 275 lbs. It would have been new state record, but it had a couple of points broken off during rut fighting.I and my co-workers check the deer and game out of the installation before they leave. My Lt. buddy was the one that weighed and checked the BIG one out.And we have LARGER deer there, beleive it or not!We see the big boys while out on patrol and more or less keep track of them.

my dad is trying to steal my bow from me hes got a darton split limb that vibrates like like hell during release
