Bowdrill on a set of scales

Has anybody ever tried to add a bowdrill to a set of canvas micarta scales? I know about the toxic dust but how about the physical ability outside the shop? Did you use a big, fat, wide, countersink bit?

I just hate to send them back to the spa for something so minor. To much down time from my baby. :)

I've never tried it, but I would use a round-nosed router bit rather than a countersink. You can get them in any diameter from 1/8" to 2." I'll bet you could put the bit in a drill press and the knife in a milling vice to do it.

What Hard Knocks said but be sure you adjust the speed accordingly when you do countersink so you don't burn the micarta.

Thanks gentlemen. I may take a trip to the hardware. I have skills but 100 heads are much better than one! :)
