I had this pic posted over on the Gallery before the server crash. I thought ya'll might want to try this with osage sometime. On this Bowie I scorched the osage with a torch and it really accented the grain and added alot of color.

The Bowie is 16.5 overall with an 11" blade and is 3/8" thick at the ricasso. The ferrule is octoganal and the fittings are nickel silver.

That's an awesome Bowie Greg!!!

As my lifer Army buddy says, "I could cut my way through walls of human flesh with a knife like that............" :D

Nice bowie, Greg!

I've done that scorching technique while making furniture, but never tried it on a knife!

I agree, that's a great knife! I have used a lot of osage, but never considered scorching it. I do, now!

That is one sexy, wicked bowie ya built there! All buisness for sure. In keeping with the Bagwell gig, I might have given it a curled double guard, but the channeled one you built does look sharp. I'd love to feel it, but I'm afraid I'd just want to lop a head or skewer someone!

Get off! That is one total knife. I really like the heavy spine, like the "old" knives, and the length of that one just makes it fit to scale perfectly. I wouldn't have thought to scortch the Osage, thanks for the tip. It really did bring out the figure. I like the octagonal shape of the handle too. That's a knife any bandito would be proud to carry!
