I already posted this knife a month or so ago, but I just finished the sheath, so I thought I'd post it.

To recap the knife specs:

Steel: W2

Hardness: 60 RC

Blade length: 10"

Blade thickness: 1/4"

Handle material: African Blackwood

The sheath is a dangler style, which is a type I've never done before. It was very challenging... It's also the
first sheath I've done with inlay. (snakeskin)

Thanks for looking!

Very nice work on both the knife and the sheath. Well worth the 2nd post and look.

I've been a fan for a long time now or so it seems, since first seeing his craftsmanship right here on BF. It's my pleasure to own a couple.

It's near year end for 07, looks like another beautiful quality piece from you workshop.

I'd better ask cause the answer's needed by many, is it available for sale?

WOW!!! Thats beautiful. What a craftsman you are!

Phillip,
Again, that is an incredible combination. You did a superb job!

So Phillip is not fielding more e-mails than he knows what to do with, everyone interested should know that I had Phillip make this knife for me. It is actually my first true (commissioned?) custom (which I define as a custom that was made specifically for me).

While I don't have the knife yet, I will say that Phillip was a pleasure to work with. He has a reasonable wait list and VERY reasonable prices. He also tweaked his basic design to accommodate a few modifications that I had requested. On the sheath, he basically allowed me to request whatever I wanted, and he was more than up to the challenge despite never having done some things before. There was never one excuse, one delay, or one complaint. He just made it all work together.

One other thing that may not be captured in the pics-- this will be a working knife and as such, it was important to me that construction and materials were top-notch. In fact, Phillip initially steered me away from a particular steel that I wanted, all the time knowing that it would not be ideal for my long-term needs. Clearly, he cares about how his knives perform and stand up to hard use long after they leave his shop.

My hat is off to Phillip for everything he has done on this knife. I don't doubt that this setup will go to one of my kids or grandkids after I'm gone. Thanks again, Phillip. She should be here any day now.

BTW, folks, don't wait. Get on Phillip's list now while the "getting" is good. Trust me -- it'll be one of the smartest things you could do!

thats a really nice setup. I think you did a great job with the inlay and the dangler...so whens the demo coming?;)
Paul

Thanks everyone for your comments!
And thank you Chris for the excellent review! Enjoy your new toy. :)

Barrabas, if you want one with a smaller, single guard, I can make one. :D

Paul, what demo?
