I finished these up recently, some of you may have seen this on my facebook page but some may not have. It is matched Bowie and Toothpick set. They blades are 2" wide X 12" long. The guards and fittings are old school brass and the handles are Ringed Gidgee. It is hard to see in the photo but the wood has a lot of activity in it. They are both fearsome pieces but the toothpick takes it to the extreme. It has the ability to slide the point where you want it but still has the weight to chop and slash. I can see why they were popular when you only had one shot.

I really like the looks of those. My personal preference would be to have the same grip on the toothpick as the bowie, but that's just my opinion. Great work!

Very Nice Craig, awesome pair :thumbup:
It was good seeing you again in Atlanta, glad you all had a safe trip home.

a very nice pair Craig but I have to agree that the same handle treatment would be preferred on both pieces to make the set #1

I've got to agree that is a nice looking pair.

The dagger is outstanding.

Both beautiful.

On a sidenote in regards to a thread with a 'toothpick' and a 'Bowie' (and not really important - just another tidbit dragged from the useless info memory bank), I seem to remember reading, that 'toothpick' was at some point in time, in fact a generic name for what today perceive as being the Bowie knife and not the pointy dagger-type knife today commonly termed toothpick (correct me if Im wrong).

rarely to hear from you, so that your work deserves it congrats for your handmade

Thanks everyone this was a fun build for me. This was a commissioned set and the customer wanted a symmetrical handle on the dagger. I tend to prefer the symmetrical handle also but a set could be made with matching handles.
It was good talking with you at Blade Bill.
As for the toothpick/dagger debate I am going to let you guys decide that one.

Love them both and they are exceptional, like all of your work my friend.
