Hi Guys

This Bowie has an 0-1 blade which is 10" long, 1 9/16" wide and 1/4" thick on the spine at the ricasso. It has a slight distal taper, but the knife is still very light and fast in the hand. The carbon steel hand guard has been forged down towards it's points to reduce it's thickness and give it some shape and then gun blued. The handle has three coined brass spacers and the carbon steel bolster has a filed centre fuller with two tramlines cut in along each edge.
The handle is a Sambar Stag tine which I have dyed using Fiebings golden brown leather dye and then sealed with Danish oil. The butt cap is carbon steel with a hammered surface filed to match the antler and gun blued. Everything is held in place with a hand made pommel nut.
The sheath is made from natural tanned leather dyed golden brown and has a panel of Python skin inlayed on the front. The keeper is held in place with a sam brown stud.
Thank you for taking the time to look.
All comments very welcome.

Cheers

Steve

Thank you for showing and for the description!!
I join the others asking for more of your creations, will be very welcomed.
I like very much the job on the stag and the bluing of the fittings, from the pictures looks like they have a brown hue as they were rust blued. What kind of blueing did you apply?

Gentlemen, thank you for your comments, I'm very pleased how this one turned out. What I'm really looking forward to, is seeing the customers reaction. I hope he likes it.
Stezann, the gun blue I use is Phillips cold set gun blue, I get it here in the UK. It comes in a solution which I normally cut 3 - 1 with water. I degrease the parts to be blued, immerse in the solution and with a small half inch stiff brush rub the pieces as they blue. It's only to remove some of the carbon like build up as that appears. I have always had good, consistent results with this product and it is very easy to use.
I have posted on this forum quiet a few time guys, but it is a very well attended site and I suppose that my posts just get swallowed up with the others. I'm not sure how you can go about checking some of my other posts without me actually telling you their thread titles. I expect there is a way, but I don't how to do it.

I call this Bowie the San Antonio, thank you for taking the time to look.

All the best

Steve

You're spot on there Kevin. The customer had seen a couple of other Bowies that I had made, but wanted an antler handle on this style blade and hand guard. All of the other fine details have grown from that really. He know's that the knife will come with coined spacers and a Python skin inlayed sheath, but he hasn't seen the finished article yet.
This order has been in the wings for quite a while now, I'm just glad that he's a patient fella.

I love every aspect of this knife. VERY Bagwell, while still being VERY you. Great work!!!!
