Hi guys,
Just thought I'd share some pics of a recent e-bay find (not my usual hunting ground, but this worked out just fine
)
This bowie is by Master Smith Keith Kilby, though it was produced while he was Journeyman Smith, back in the day.
The knife features a 7 3/4" damscus blade with an overall length of 12 1/2". A little on the small side for me
but it's a stout knife, with a blade thickness of approx. 1/4" at the ricasso. Sheath is shark skin.
The grooved, oval-shaped double gaurd is rendered in damascus, as is the ferrule.
The handle is a premium piece of stag, with excellent colour, contour and texture. The kind you rarely see nowadays. It is finished off with a nickel silver cap, meticulously filed to match the texture of the stag.
The knife has a reassuring heft and excellent balance. Fit and finish are beyond reproach.
One final parting shot that shows off the long, aggressive clip:
Cheers,
Roger
