Bowie knife Question.

whats better for a bowie knife with a 11 1/2 inch blade? 440C, 5160, 1084 or 1095? I want to know which one of these are the best. Ill be usin this knife for an occasional skinnin or guttin job or to cut an occasional tree branch i want the steel choice to withstand that and still keep an edge.
 
It really depend on how cheap you want to go. A $20 Winchester from Wal-mart, would do all of that maybe not very well without a putting a little work into it. You get what you pay for. I still like carbon 5160 or 1095. Again depends on what you're spending.
 
Skinning with a foot long blade is impractical and bordering on ridiculous. But since that's not.what you asked I would go with 5160 for toughness on such a long blade.
