Bowie knife with razor edge.

I want a bowie knife that can be sharpened to a razor sharp edge. I doubt some of the thicker flat-grind bowie styled knives out there could do that. Any recommendations? What about some of the hollow-grind bowies? I'm seeking the sharpest edge possible in a bowie knife.

pretty much anything can be sharpened to that level of you know what you're doing.

whether it'll retain that edge is a different story. But anything can bemade sharp.

Not really. That would mean doing a re-profile of the bevel. I want something that can achieve that level of sharpness at the factory bevel.

Uhm.. even without resetting the bevel and simply refining the edge you could shave just fine. I've seen people shave with an axe.

I'm pretty sure it'll be easier with a bowie

Both of my hatchets came shaving sharp. One was a grandsfor bruck, the other a custom ground weterling. As with most axes, both are convex.

I'm not a big fixed blade fan, mostly due to being illegal to carry around here. But that Natchez Bowie from Cold Steel has a profile that talks to me. Gonna have to put that on my wish list as a future purchase, after these stupid government furloughs end.
