I'm looking to buy a bowie hunting knife for about USD 150. Please let me have some recommendations.

Whaddaya want? :)

Some of these are a little more or less than $150, but some options are easy to come up with (all of which I'd be comfortable recommending).

Do you mean the traditional bowie pattern (up-swept, clip point or both) in a hunting sized knife with a 4" to 6" blade that can kind of do a reasonable job at gutting/skinning/general tasks? Just an example---

And another:

Here's another a little more upscale:

Also very nice:

Or perhaps an actual bowie-sized knife to have along with you while hunting, dedicated more to in-camp chores?:

Not as fancy, but extremely capable:

Or maybe a knife to actually hunt with (no gun)--like for feral hogs maybe?:

I could do this all night. :D
Any specific preferences you might have would help narrow things down a lot. How big, stainless or non-stainless, light or heavy, traditional or modern materials----in the price range you're looking at, you have a huge amount of options.

What I was looking for was a hunting bowie, clip pointed, with s sharpened clip, 10" long for hunting without guns and regular camp chores.

Gotta ask, have you ever hunted anything before?

You are asking for 3 different knives. Fighter, hunting knife, and camp/brush knife.

The last one I mentioned, of this group anyway, would be the closest. I will give it some thought. Entrek has knives closer (size wise and with sharpened clips) but you're definitely looking more in the $200 range for those as they're slightly fancier with guards, etc.

The old Ontario Bagwell Bowies would have suited you nicely--shame that they're gone.

Might look at their Spec Plus line.

You'll want to check out the Ontario Spec Plus SP-5 Survival Bowie.
Or, if you MUST have a metal guard, the Marine Raider Bowie, also from the Spec plus line.

thanks for the link Krieger. i loved that story. like the bowie too.
