I'm close to pulling the trigger on a Bowie Machete. Obviously, there are loads of + comments, but I'd like comments from those that have this model.

I currently have both Smatchet and Tanto machetes; I like the tip strength on both. How would you compare these to the Bowie?

(Just a quick comment: I plan to strip and re-handle the Bowie if/when I get it.)

Thanks for the insights.

due to the steel type and softer heat treat cold steel s. african maker uses its very strong. would expect it would bend long before breaking off. ive used mine plenty and never noticed and issues. it seems thick enough to handle above normal use......but im also not stress testing it to see if it can or will break. i just use it to clear thick vines and over growth....normal machete type tasks.

Well, the tanto and smatchet machetes have wider points than the bowie, so yeah, tip will be stronger on those 2. That said, as long as your aren't aren't going crazy and using your bowie as a crowbar or a climbing piton or something, the tip should be fine.
