Just wondering what everyone's preference is and why as between the FBM Bowie Proto and the FSH Bowie Proto. These two both have a slight recurve.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/
I prefer the FBM Bowie Proto...
Just think it looks better on a longer blade.
But I like BMs more than I like SHs in general so...

+1 I also think that the proportions of the clip and recurve look much nicer and streamlined on the FBM proto.
Those are some really nice pictures Lil Foo. I think the Bowie prototype design looks Bada$$!!!
Don't have an FBM proto, but I love my FSH proto. It's a monster of a knife:

That Proto FBM Bowie looks sharp! That is "cool" sharp. It is just a bit to slender in appearance for me though. I would shorten the clipped swedge by about 1-1/4" or by about a fourth of the present length. I guess we all grew up eyeing different interpretations of the "Bowie" knife style. It possibly takes away a bit of the 'fighter' aspect of the blade but adds more to the 'field' or 'survival' part. I bet that with that thickness of blade it helps to bring the center of gravity a bit more towards the handle with the longer clip point grind. If it were mine I believe I would be very happy with it as it is. Sweet knife!
If you were to review all the posted pics of the FBM Proto Bowie's, you would see that they come in a variety of profiles, ie different clip length, curve of clip, depth of recurve on the blade. Garth explained to me that as Protos, the grinders were given a general idea of what to do and so there were different interpretations. You can probably find the shape you like, it's out there.
Any idea how many numbers were produce, or how many differant configerations there are?
