I'm looking for a throwing knife that can double as a bowie knife in the field. To be more specific, a large thrower about 13-14 inches overall that has one sharp edge for cutting chores. Any suggestions?

You might try one of the cutlery catalogs or websites such as Atlanta Cutlery or Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Both of these companies carry what we refer to as a Paki-Bowie. These are cheap Bowies of 15 inches with sharp edge in the style of Hollywood bowie design. They make great throwers if you remove the crossguard. They usually run about 15 dollars so get a few.

I just got my Atlanta Cutlery bowie thrower. Not a bad thrower at all, but the wooden handles started falling off immediately and I had to take them off along with the crossguard. Still a nice thrower, but not too great for cutting chores without the handles. Overall a good knife for the cash.
