Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum, and I have been wondering why there is not a sub forum for Bowie knives?

Ther is a forums for traditional folders and fixed blades under the General Knife discussion section, but I think that a section for just Bowies is a little to specific and if we did that for all the different type of knives we would have hundreds of sub forums. They try and divide the groups of knives by major categories such as Automatics, balisong, fixed blades and folders and under those categories you can find almost anything you need.

Doug,
Welcome to the Forums.
We got everything pretty much covered. From productions to customs,in one of the many forums there's usually something discussed to do with Bowie's.Styles, steels, construction, makers, choice of materials.
And sometimes various forumites will post pics of their amazing Bowie's.

It could be because there is no consensus on what a "bowie knife" looks like. Current, respectable opinions include something that looks like a large, straight backed kitchen utility knife, spear-points of various dimensions, and clip points with a WIDE range of dimensions.

Amen to that. I used to think I knew pretty much everything about Bowie knives, but the last week or so I have learned I knew next to nothing. My concept of the "Bowie knife" covered only one style. I have learned more about Bowie knives in the past two weeks than I had learned in the previous 52 years, and there is more to learn.
