I wanted to show this one before I shipped it to a fellow forumite. He wanted a 10" blade of 5160, with the 3X treatment. He wanted a Sheffield style upper edge (hard to see in the pic)....stag handle and nickel silver fittings.

I used Red Stag for the grip....it is attached with what Goddard calls the "maxi-tang" construction, a bolt silver brazed to the tang and the corresponding nut brazed to the pommel piece. It is back filled with epoxy and then screwed together. A bit of a challenge with the angle of the stag in this case.

I find it fun to try new techniques when a customer has a realistic design preference.

I think I will miss this one!

Whoa, Greg, that's a beauty! I'd love to give that one a heft, must feel great. Lucky Forumite!

In the current (August?) Blade (hope I got the right mag, I'm at work) Ed Fowler talks about just that thing, letting go when it's done. Mr Fowler's take is that he's put a bit of every knife he ever made into the current one and in that way they all stay in his shop in some way. I like that sense, what he calls the "spirit" of a knife. :)

Edit: Well naturally I got the magazine wrong, it's the August Blade Knife Talk.

Great traditional styling on this one..Bet the guy getting it will just love it.

Well....the buyer backed out of the deal today so I am going to move the Bowie over to the For Sale section later tonite....rather than to add it to my collection!
