Hi all!

I'd like to show you a longtime project that is about to be finished.

It's a bowie inspired knife, though we usually make only scandi knives and folders.

Well first is a closeup of the almost finished knife and then there are som wip shoots.

Jakob and Simon,
Great looking bowie. Nice pattern on the hamon and like the damascus match on the guard and pommel.
What kind of clay is that?

Thanks Bruce!

The clay is used to fix furnaces and exhaust pipes etc. It's pre mixed and very easy to use, it sticks very good on metal. We did apply tha clay as shown in the picture and then the blade was edge quenched to get a wavy hamon. After hand rubbing and etching the blades for several hours we decided it looked better with a polished bevels so we handsanded the blade again and left it without etching to show the hamon. The hamon is still visible but not as clearly as when etched. The knife looked to grey with an etch hamon for our taste, the black handle, damascus bolsters, forged flats and grey bevels was to much.

Here is the knife straight out from the etching tank.
