Bowie with a different look

Great knife, Lin.
I love the profile and the smooth, natural flow of the guard.
I always like that pommel treatment.

Different but fantastic! I'm not usually a fan of the multiple segments that are reminiscent of/inspired by Scagel (not sure if this was or not) but this one is a real looker.

Really nice guard/spacer work to finish it off too. Great work Lin.

Beautifully done and so well photographed also. A great addition to anyone's collection. Others have commented quite elegantly.

I like it....what's the fileworked spacer material?

Best Regards,

Thanks everyone.

The blade is 10-1/8 inches of 1095 steel. The other fittings are 416 stainless and Bronze (filed spacer and flower finial). The Stag is a piece that I bought years ago that was a nice size but had a crack up near the front that I didn't like so I figured to add a little Scagel touch to get rid of the crack. The "leather"is actually stacked, kiln dried Cherry wood. I alternated the grain 90 degrees each layer for stability and contrast. It seems to me a reasonable alternative to leather.

Very Nice Lin! I like the wood/stag combo and at first glance it does look like leather, perhaps because that's what most would expect it to be when seen stacked like this. Nice photo too.

Very Nice Lin, There's a lot of good stuff going on in that handle. Good idea on saving that piece of stag.

Please stop posting that bowie....I keep drolling on myself and my bank account is cowering in a corner at the thought of it. :D

Wonderful lines and mix of materials. Fairly "simple"but probably my favorite of all your knives I've seen on BF. I note how you had to shave/bevel that last cherry spacer to conform to the overall angle of the handle. Worked out well. Excellent photo, by the way.
