Very nice knife Gib. The knife just looks right. Everything matches and balances. I like copper and have used it a lot. I would much rather have copper than brass and you seem to have found a good blend of materials. You get an A+ on this one!:)

Very Nice! Add a buckskin sheath and it's ready for any trip into the mountains. Great job.

Nice knife Gib! What's up with the hole in the blade? I've seen these before and always wondered what the point was.

Belstain-
The hole/notch in the blade is known as a Spanish notch. A lot of "ideas" of what it was ther for, but historians will tell you it is a decorative element that is a holdover from the sword fighting (rapier) days when the "main gauche" or left hand daggers were used, which often had swordbreaker notches.

Nice knife there! Congrats on the pic in this month's issue of Blade in the Ed Fowler article too.
A question for you... how does the elk hold up in comparison to Sambar stag? I presume it has the same care involved... mineral oil at least once a year etc.
thanks, Mongo

I don't see much difference it Elk or Sambar as far as care. but to use Elk you have to be very picky as to what you bye, I use the tang that is the next one up from the eye guard it seems to be the best, also where the animal was living and when it lost its antler.
Gib

Very nice Gib. Is the guard one piece and filed or three pieces with spacers?
Regards,
Greg

Darn nice, guy! And the copper really goes well with it. That knife looks like it is looking for action.
