bad. Very bad. It all started back at the Gathering. Jerry, Ethan, and I were talking about a trip I had to the Alamo as a kid, and what I saw there, and how it changed me. Big Bowie Knife.

I been in love since, and since the topic seems to be coming up alot lately (clich, you demon.), I think I'm gonna get me a BNIB BK9 and grind me a Bowie knife.

Well, it acutally kinda already is, but I have some inspiration, and I have someone who's done it. This, is where I think I'm gonna go, with my new 9.

I would love to see a large Becker bowie, well a more deeper clip point type whatever lol
 
Big knives, hell yeah. Big Bowies, even better. A Bowie with Becker flair would be a mighty beast indeed. A must have. Think we could twist his arm?
 
That pimp hat has made tradewater the most recognizable face here on Becker Forum.
But the 7 is as bowie i need at this point in my life.

Heck yeah!

Something like the 9 with more traditional clip point....

and then a little more blade belly...

and then polish the blade all shiny....

and then some nice wood handles.........

and then a leather sheath...............................

and then....

and then........

Yeah, that Devilpig Kabar Mod is some real fine work. I don't think I'll put a fuller in it, but I'm gonna grind the ramp, strip it, clip the tip, and put a sharpened swedge on it.

Haze got me to thinking about a parkerized finish, but I don't know, probably dull it and let it rust. Clean it and let it blacken on its own. Then again, a mirror finish is good to keep rust at bay too. :D

what would get me hot and bothered would be a blade like an ontario SP10 with a becker handle. hells yeah.

just a super-quick shop job. not even to scale it looks like.

For some reason, when I think bowie knife, my mind thinks of something with an upper and lower guard on the handle. And for some reason, I'm having a hard time figuring out what a becker handle would look like with upper and lower guards...

And how much bigger than the 9 are you guys thinking for this big bowie? I mean, it IS called the "Combat Bowie", so it shouldn't be to far off in size.

Nice job Doc. I've got no skills with adding things to photos like that (can photoshop if I have source material that I can blend together... but can't create stuff like that).

At first I didn't think I could see a becker handle with a guard.

Now I can :).
 
That looks awesome. Although I would prefer a 7 inch model to a 9-10 inch. I think it would get more carry time.

Yeah I like that a lot. I wonder would the guard be a permanent/ integral part of the blade?

I don't think I've ever seen a knife that had a guard and removable scales. I'd guess the scales would need to be at least slightly different, maybe flat along the top to sit flush with the guard.
 
Yeah, a Becker Raider Bowie is what we are needing.

Oh, and a little bit of good news, after my stealing his pic, and just BSN around with the famous Mr. Haze, it would seem that the BK9 in my OP is coming to America, with the sole purpose of being a passaround.

Mucho thanks to one Scottish Taiwanese friend of mine, for that. Ya'll should thank him as well. We'll get something going as soon as I get done playing with it. :D
