Here are a couple bowies that are going to forumites.

The first is for my man Randy. It's a fighting bowie 10.5" forged 5160h blade, ss fittings, and a claro walnut handle. The handle is only slid on in the photo, I'm debating on applying another coat of oil. This blade has the best taper I've been able to acheive; the point is very thin and VERY pointy. I poked myself with it many times, even before it was sharpened.

The second bowie was forged from 1065, 7.25" blade, clay coated heat treat, ss guard, bronze ferrule, amboyna burl handle. I'm pretty happy with the hardening line, I learned quit a bit from this knife and I'll be applying it to future hardening lines.

I purchased the handle material over a year ago, I was reluctant to use it because of the sap wood. Initially I thought it would have a great contrast. I thought about using it on several other knives, but I always hesitated. I decided to go through with it, and I'm glad I did. I'm happy with the color combination of bronze, amboyna, and stainless.

I have another big bowie in the works for Stan, and another medium bowie for the Scagel hammer in. I need to get Stan's knife finished then get moving on knives for the hammer in.

Thanks for the look,

Super job! The handles look very good, and interesting with the heart wood showing. Watch out for that black-and-white ankle-biter or you'll have teeth marks on the knives where you don't want them!

Great looking knives Matt - they keep getting better and better, your turning out some real nice pieces.

They look top-notch -- go ahead and send them on over. :D

Thanks for the compliments guys! It seems like all I'm making now are bowies, I'm starting to get a little better at them though :).

Michael, which one do you want? I'll get it in the mail tomorrow :).

Matt

I'll take that little one. :D

Damn fine work if I didn't already mention it. In the big world of bowies you've still managed to create a little "style" that is definitely you.

I think you need to come over here and give me some lessons Matt!

Those two are both smoke'n!!!

I stand by my statement that you are posting some of the cleanest pieces on the forums. I know there are alot of "newbies" so please don't take that as something like, "Hey, you're pretty strong for such a litte guy." LMAO!!!

I'm very impressed with your stuff Matt. :)

Hey Matt

WOW..really clean work you continue to build on your obvious gifts.
the little walnut utility is still in heavy rotation..her edge is as hairsplitting as ever..a touch up on a strop and she is good to go...Congrtats!

From what I can see, they're both darned nice knives. Clean work,
pleasing to the eye and the hand.

My preference would be the shorter one....handier size for
just about anything.

Thank you very much for the nice compliments guys.

Riad, I'm elated to hear the knife is still in service. I hope you are enjoying it and giving it hell :).

Russ, I'm with you; a smaller version is my prefence. In fact I've got one in line :).

Thanks again guys.

Matt
