I wanted to show off my new toy/tool. This has been sitting on my workbench for a little over a week now, but I haven't been able to spend any time in the man cave. I got a few minutes to myself last night to take a few pics and try this thing out.

This is the first time I've ever used an adze of any kind, so I'm not exactly a connoisseur. I was really shocked at how fast I hollowed out this piece of seasoned elm.

I am really thrilled with this little adze. I really like the handle. It's comfortable, but I think I will make another. I will make it a bit longer and give it a sweep away from the cutting edge. I found my knuckles hitting my work when trying to "steepen" the walls of the bowl. It performs awesome though. Cuts amazingly well, I had no idea how fast I could hollow a bowl. I'm thrilled.

Thanks Lisa West of Wolf Creek Forge!!!!

Congrats! That is one beautiful tool. The mirror polish on the bit is just amazing. Looks like a pleasure to work with. Just think, now you can carve yourself a canoe. :p

What? Something else I must get to "experiment with.
Looks like a very useful tool and it's beautiful to boot.

Lisa really makes some great stuff. That looks like a great tool to have.

How's the weight?

I'm just wondering because I noticed how thick the eye walls are. Do you find that extra weight useful or a hindrance? To early to tell yet?

Get some simonds catalogs to replace the Stihl ones and this will be G-pig/luddite approved.

Here's what I'm talking about. I shot some more video, but apparently it takes about 2 hours to upload each 2 minutes of video...

All I can say is a HUGE THANK YOU to a knifemaker Bruce Bump. He practically gave this thing to me. I am still in disbelief. I have more to say later about that.

The old chisel that I'm sharpening in that video had some damage. I would guess that if I had taken it to my Japanese water stones, I would have spent two hours working past the damage. With this grinder, it took me two minutes without creating a bit of heat. I threw down a couple passes on my 3000 and 8000 grit water stones. Now the chisel dry shave hair off my arm. This grinder is amazing.
