I've been taking a liking to archery lately.. Mainly paleo built bows and a couple composite models, I'm just curious what would be a good bow to get me started for about 200-300$ ?

suggestions, links & pics please.:D

what are you looking for exactly... do you prefer a recurve or a longbow... i don't recommend shooting anything higher than 40#-45# max.. in the begining it's a all about working on devoloping form and building muscle memory... i started shooting a recurve and have long since switched to nothing but longbows...:D

you should also check out "the traditional bowhunters handbook" by t.j. conrads... it's a great book and covers a wealth of subjects realted to traditonal archery.... t.j. is the editior/founder of traditional bowhunter magazine... the book is available on their site.. www.tradbow.com

BTW.. my father in law has a really nice recurve for sale, a martin x-200 45#@28 ..complete with a bow sock, 1/2 a doz. arrows and a side quiver... drop me a line if you're intersted i can get you some pics... allscared@yahoo.com

I highly recommend the PSE Coyote. A lightweight takedown recurve with an aluminum riser. Well within your price range, very handy, and alot of fun.

I have been shooting a Hoyt ultrasport for the last 4 years. I love this bow, however i am thinking of switching over to a Mathews, but both are a little out of your price range. PSE and Fred Bear both have some quality bows in your range. I cant comment on traditional bows. If you are look for some good info go to BOWHUNTINGTALK.com I have learned a lot from them.

Go with a good recurve. Especially if you are gonna bow fish with it. You can usually get a good used Grizzly for about $50 if you look for it at sales.
