I went a little whacko on eBay buying wood and got some burls nicer than I remember seeing in years of wood working. The one disapointment is some slabs of white box elder burl. I put some natural minwax an some and it turned bright yellow. In just the right light I can see some flame and figure and there are some birdseyes. How woud y'all recommend treating this stuff? Stain it some? Firewood? Send it to you 'cause I'm not competent to deal with it?

Regards

Lynn

I have a little block that I bought that has been stabilized. It also was colored with a deep red stain and that really brought out the contrast. You probably should send it to WSSI and they'll do it up for you. My understanding is that they can do a bunch of different color treatments so you'll have to ask around and see what you would want to have done.

Send it to K&G Knife Supplies. I send all my wood to be stablized
to them, and it comes back perfect.

If you send ten pounds or more to WSSI, the price for stabilization is $8.00 a pound. Or at least it was the last time I used them. Thats about the best price going.
