Many of us buy these things on the Exchange in order to gift them to relatives, or we like to collect certain ones. In either case, the integrity of the manufacturer's box is important.
Bubble-wrap shipping envelopes will crush a box until it's garbage.
Please send out your folders in a box (of any kind) to prevent this. You can send it USPS first class, USPS Priority flat rate box (my all-time favorite), UPS or whatever. If you need, just charge a couple extra bucks for the knife in order to cover your "better" shipping. I promise you, we won't mind paying at all.
Thank you, friend.

Mods...move this wherever appropriate...Thanx.

I always use your all-time favorite. For me it's more convenient actually.
Haven't bought much off the Exchange but what I did has come in boxes, I'm sorry to hear about your experiences.

Hi, RedLynx,
I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. Your quote...

I am fortunate to have only had two or three crushed boxes in two yrs of heavy-duty buy/sell/trade. So that's pretty good. But I did "prevent" one crushed box a while ago, when I requested Priority Box shipping from the seller. And that one was a very nice Gift knife for a lady relative.
I added two bucks to cover the fellow's increased mailing cost, but hey, that's a cup of coffee. Sure glad that I requested it...
:)
Of course, a nice box always helps for resale. I would hate to sell a folder with a crushed box to someone...would take pics first, of course, but I would certainly expect to lose money on the sale because of it.
For anyone here who has collected older handguns...you know that the "original" box can easily add $100 to the selling-price.

Boxes for a buyer should be standard procedure. It protects both members.

I completely agree and I always overdo the packing of a knife(box, bubble wrap, extra tape, etc.). I think a lot of buyers don't understand the shipping costs on some items though and aren't inclined to pay for it. For example, Ive sold a knife that had to be insured for $700(a lot more than I sold it for). The flat rate shipping plus the insurance/signature confirmation/tracking adds up to $25. I still do it right, but the seller loses out a little bit.
