I just got my first spyderco. I noticed online theres two different box designs. One a red and black box, the other a black box with a web pattern on it. Im guessing the box got updated and one is the newer version and the other older, which one is which? Also I looked at an endura 4 wave plain edge at a local place here and the label said Endura Wave EG. When I got my Endura Wave plain edge it said Endura Wave GG and also had a small red dot sticker on the label. Can any of you tell me what this means? Did I get a display model or something?

The red/black box with a gold bug is the newer box. The two digit code you see on the label (EG & GG) are date codes. The date is indicative of when that particular knife was manufactured. EG = May 2007. GG = July 2007. We made a rolling change to the new boxes in 2007.
