Wow. ..so my dad tells me he has a few Case knives he has collected over the years.

Imagine my surprise, when he hands me a whole box of new in box knives !

Can any of you Case experts tell me, if there are any collectors items in there ?

Thanks !

Case is probably the most collected American made traditional pocket knife and your father obviously collected them so the answer is yes. There are some nice knives in the box.

As the saying goes, this thread is useless without pics. Please share some of those beauties with us!

I look forward to pictures of each one as they come out of the box!! Christmas in September:D

Actually better pics of the box labels, so that the model number, handle material, and date of manufacture would be helpful too. Some are visible but hard to read (mainly because the label wraps around the box end) but also due to size and crispness of the image.

Well, I see peanuts, stockmans, toothpicks, copper locks. They all have a following, so there is quite a potential....very nice gift you got there.....

Be they valuable or not what a great gift from your dad! Enjoy!

I saw one label that said Swayback Jack (Gent) - that is a very popular knife here on the Traditional Forum at Blade, discontinued for the time being and a little more of a challenge to find - now that is among folks that are self proclaimed knife-nutts! Most normal folks (non-collectors) carry a Stockman or Trapper pattern if they carry a traditional at all - thus they are more common in stores and have more varieties offered by Case - so not as collectible from that point of view. All Case knives will make very good using knives, so if one or two in there strike your fancy by all means put it to use. Very nice gift from your Dad. OH

Knice, the only time I get a box of knives from anyone they're usually junk and they want them sharpened to hair whittling sharp...

Knice gift, enjoy... :)

Great gift from your father. Christmas early!!! Have fun opening each box to see what you have...he certainly likes the stockman. But what's in the tin case, maybe something special?

Every Case knife could be considered Collectors Items. Case marks each knife with a year code, introduces and discontinues handle materials frequently, and does many "limited editions" and short-term SFOs. Case also does pocketknives in partnership with many other companies and organizations like the BSA, John Deere, Ruger, and Carhartt that appeal to two groups of collectors.
Your boxes all appear to be recent designs, I would guess most are 1990s and newer, but as the knives get older they'll become even more sought after by collectors.

And if the knives are from your dad, that makes them 10X more collectible. :)

Your father had good taste in Case knives; their stockman and peanut knives are their most attractive offerings and, in my experience, are two of their patterns with the highest level of consistent build quality.

You'll learn more about them as you go through the boxes and inspect the individual knives.

I looked up most of the item numbers. I notice you have several doubles/triples of the same knife, perhaps from different model years. None of them are exceptionally rare and all appear to have been produced since 2000 or so just based on the packaging, and many of them are still in current production. Best of the bunch, value/rarity wise, is the Item 32067 medium stockman in stag with slanted and fluted bolsters, and the 06228 Scout in orange G10.

Some of the others may appreciate in value over time.

Nice set of knives, though. If it were me I would certainly consider picking a few knives out of the doubles and triples of the same model and turning them into users.

Thank you for all the feedback and info..I will get some better shots this weekend and post up some pics.

Poor dad suffers from a very cruel Alzheimers..and is in hospice care at home. He was an Engineer by trade, loved quality built items. Have a box like this with Parker fountain pens and Cross pens, as well.

Thanx again for the input!
